The Journey Continues

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for all your continued support and wonderful comments. The fun is still going strong.

Yesterday (Saturday) was another big and adventurous day. After getting back from Korsor, we ate lunch and prepared for our premier event. The Grand Prix. The adventures were starting to catch up with us all, so we decided to give it our all tonight, and sleep in tomorrow, dropping an activity or two. By sleeping in, I mean to bed by 11PM and up by 8AM. What a luxury. So, we had some sandwiches, got inside the van, and headed out. On our journey Mary (daisy) was at the wheel. I must say not the most experienced stick shifter on the planet, at one time holding up the entire population of Slagelse and rolling backward down the hill with drivers oin a panic at the same time. We did make it alive. Barely.

The Grand Prix was amazing. Can you even imagine? 12 or so bands, all with disabilities competing for the ultimate prize. huge gymnasium, lights, pro cameras, the works. We all had our Lifeworks shirts that VASAC (lifeworks Danish sister program) made for us. The quality of the band was top notch. We all ended up buying CDs, even though they were like $20. I have not mentioned but stuff is crazy expensive here. Ann bought a $7.50 Mocha in Copenhagen! We were all a Little shocked. but, you only get the opportunity to buy a $7.50 Mocha in Copenhagen once. It was, reportedly, a fine Mocha.

Anyhow, the bands were excellent. Judy our president was one of the judges. Judge Judy. Ha Ha. A band eventually won the competition to much rejoicing, and dinner was then served. It was great food. TOmato salad. Weird green cauliflowers and potato, and a spiced chicken. Ice cream cake for desert. After this, the pro bands performed. I really enjoyed the second band, the one from VASAC, MC EMBACHER.

By this time everyone was falling over from Lifeworks. Not so with the Danish crowd. Wine and beer was flowing freely. The third band was well known, and everyone started going wild. We just could not keep pace. I guess they all stay out till like midnight hooping and hollering. We took our exit and were excited to be sleeping in.

Today, everyone is heading to Hamlet's Castle and Sweden. I stayed back because we do have on unfortunate casualty. Jeff has a cold and we are taking it easy today. Not a bad thing, because we can enjoy Sunday Danish style. Tea and Pro Badmitten!

The rest of the gang will report back tomorrow, hopefully, with their exciting tale. Again, getting internet has been hard for us. but, we maintain and excel.

Everyone sends all their love. no fights, no tears, no home sickness (much), and all memorable experiences.

Best,

Adrian and the Lifeworks crew.

Denamark on Friday

Hello Everyone!

Denmark is the greatest place on Earth. Man, have we had lots of fun, and done so much. Up at 6AM down at 10PM. Go,go,go like crazy. Good crazy. There have been no tears, no fights, no wrestling matches or duels. Just good old fashion tourism. Life is excellent! I have already told the tale of Wednesday/Thursday, so now I will tell the tale of Friday/Saturday (part day).

Friday morning we woke up early and had some breakfast courtesy again of Madam Bogger. It is bread, cheese, ham, juice, and this crazy past called mere smag. it could have been mere meat, but it is mere smag which is some weird (but tasty) meet paste. Oh, and there is sunberry jam here. Can't get the stuff in the states.

After Breakfast, we got loaded up in the vans for the hour long car trip to Copenhagen. Henning is our fearless leader. Not afraid to take 25 Americans around one of the most awesome cites on the planet. We got in, got parked, and headed toward the Parliament building. Lots of architecture, castles, and colored buildings on the way. Copenhagen has a wonderful look to it. Again, the signature red roofs. Bright colored pastels, red brick everywhere, gorgeous looking people with red noses (chilly), boats and sails, and tons of cobblestone. Parliament was interesting, plenty of history and artifacts. We then walked around. Ate pizza in the park and went to wait for a canal tour.

Keith and Judy went to the opera house, while the rest of us went to the canal. The canal boat is this really wide, flat boat that goes through all the canals and shows us stuff. We had to keep our heads down or the low bridges would take them off. Aron, Erica, Kristi, and Cindy were just about decapitated at one point. We saw landmarks galore. Hippy village, opera house, library, little mermaid, boat X100, and the city in general.

After the boat tour we headed to the shopping district and walked around and did some shopping. Many Denmark hats we purchased, and we even found a Kmart. The fashion might be a little over our heads but Mary (daisy) was able to find a glamorous bracelet. We could have spent 4 days in Copenhagen, but we had to go.

Back at Musholm, it was dinner. Fishcakes, ham, peas, potato, gravy, joy. Then we saw a band that came to perform for us. I wish I had the name handy, because they played such a sweet melody for us. Guitar, voice, and lap guitar. Everyone was dancing. Ann dancing with Tim kicked the whole thing off, and soon we were all cutting the rug. Some beer were drank, some cheer was had.

Went to bed. So tired!

Now it is Saturday and we just got back from the town of Korsor. Did a little shopping, and having lunch. Soon we will be heading to the Grand Prix. This is the big battle of the bands. We are so looking forward to it. We will sing, dance, and make merry. Hopefully, I can find Internet somehow again to update tomorrow. it has been a big pain to get access. All for you Minnesota. Oh, and I (Adrian) have to read Danish on stage tonight :0 Yikes.

We are in Denmark! Alive and well!

Wow,

It has been such a great time so far. Filled with thrills, spills, and adventures. We all got on the plane from Minneapolis to Amsterdam at 9:35 PM with our heads held high. The 9 hour plane ride was not as bad as anyone thought it would be. They had personal TVs for everyone, and you could watch any movie you want. Jeff Perlman enjoyed Transformers Pt. II, while Aron Valdez watched 4 movies total. We all tried to get some sleep on the plane, but I bet we all got about 3 hours total each. We got two meals, and snacks.

Next, we arrived at Amsterdam (really seemed like a short flight), and it was 6AM in Minneapolis, but already 1PM in Amsterdam. We hopped on a short flight, the stewards and stewardesses' were great, then we were in Copenhagen, Denmark! We quickly got all our bags (everyone's arrived), and rented the Vans. It was tricky to find them in the parking lot, but we eventually did. They are big, and have stick shifts. Crazy. I am driving one (Adrian), and so is Judy and Mitch.c By this time it is about 7PM (12PM Minnesota time) and dark outside. Now we are driving to Musholm, about an hour away. The drive was beautiful and mysterious. The driving was fun, but everyone was tired being up for about 24 hours at this time.

We arrived in Musholm, and had a delicious dinner sponsored by Madame Bogger. The Dinner was Turkey, broccoli, and rice with a delicious paprika red sauce. We took a group picture and split up to our rooms to go to bed.

Our rooms are awesome. Very forward thinking and accessible. Be sure to watch the video tour. Really a beautiful landscape. Quaint rustic looking houses with red ceramic roofs and a cloudy brisk environment. We are right on the North sea.

About 7 hours later, we are up. It is 7AM (12AM minneapolis), and ready to go. We tour VASAC, a place that serves people much like lifeworks does. VASAC KOBE has a second hand shop. We eat breakfast and but souvenirs. We are in Korsor. We go to the VASAC coffee shop and tour an ancient fort. Then we hit Slaslage. It is a shopping town. Now, I am in the library blogging. Whew!

Sorry for the messy writing. We are in such a rush to see all the wonderful sights. Everyone is in a great mood and sends lots of love. Everyone is so happy to be meeting new people and getting to know each other more. Also, Molly has asked me to shout out Burnsville Lifeworks every five minutes since we left. So, BURNSVILLE SHOUT OUT HOLLA!!!!

Oh, and I will blog as much as possible, there are not tons of spots to get the internet where we are. I expect we can do it everyday.

Miss you all so much.

Everyone says hi.

Hamlet's Castle

Here is the info on the beautiful castle we will be visiting. Supposedly, Hamlet lived here. Great for Shakespeare fans, good for architecture buffs, and fun for all. Here is the scoop:

Kronborg Castle
Kronborg Castle or Hamlets Castle, immortalised by Shakespeare, is situated at Helsingør or "Elsinore" and built by King Frederik II in 1590.
After the fire in 1629 his son the great builder among Danish Kings Christian IV completed the building of Kronborg Castle in 1638.
Kronborg lies at the entrance of Øresund, which was the ideal position to collect Sound Duties from ships entering Øresund to secure taxes and revenues.
