We spent a beautiful day at Skagen Beach. It was rainy when we left Aalborg on our two hour drive to the northern most point of Denmark. We were prepared for a wet, windy and cold visit. On the way it started to clear off and we saw two beautiful rainbows. By the time we arrived at the beach it was a beautiful sunny day.
What an amazing trip!
On Sunday we visited the Skagen museum of art. In the early 1900's many artists came to Skagen because of the quality of light found on the Skagen beach. This museum had many painting created by these artists who captured realistic scenes from the fishing village of Skagen. We spent a couple of hours in the museum .

Dinner at the Home of a Traditional Danish Family
We were invited to dinner at the home of Claus and JoAnn. Claus is the "Supreme Leader" of services for people with disabilities in the county around Aalborg, Denmark. Claus came to Minnesota on a study trip in September of 2008. We began our visit by enjoying some homemade elderberry tea.
We had a delicious dinner with unique Danish dishes including tomato and onion salad, sweet and sour turkey with veggies, rice, and homemade bread. They were proud to make us homemade spice cupcakes for dessert with home grown grapes from their greenhouse.
After dinner we went out to play the Viking Game. It was so fun that we decided that we are going to make the game in Minnesota and call it the "Dane Game". Peter was the King of the game because he was supreme winner. We all had fun.

We made the paper!
We made the Aalborg paper which had a nice article about the Harvest Festival and the Lifeworks All Star Band who played at it! It is in Danish, but there is one photo of some of the band members. The article highlighted that Lifeworks traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to attend and play at the Harvest Festival. They played numbers by Bob Dylan, John Denver, and their own song about the current events in America. The song talked about the wars in Irac and Afghanistan and the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. One line in the song was, "BP oil is gonna have to pay." The band played in the rock style with a steady rhythm.
